Looking out to sea

Work for Humankind is a bold initiative developed for Lenovo in partnership with NGO Island Conservation that took a twist on the work from anywhere revolution – inviting volunteers to work from a highly remote location - Robinson Crusoe Island - to save endangered wildlife and empower the local community, using Lenovo technology.

Lenovo built a state-of-the-art tech hub and upgraded the island’s internet capability to make it over 200 times faster, enabling volunteers (selected from 4,500 applicants) to work from the “remote office,” and give over 1000 hours of their free time to the local community.  This campaign helped prevent the extinction of endangered species, transforming the island’s conservation efforts and the perception of hybrid working for years to come.
